Shawn Trotter - Guitar and mandolin

Shawn Trotter is a gifted Canadian musician, multi-instrumentalist, and composer whose work consistently earns praise from both peers and critics. As a solo performer and collaborator, his recordings showcase his talents as a performer and composer, blending diverse influences into a unique and dynamic sound. His music draws from Celtic, Blues, Country, Jazz, Folk, and Classical traditions, creating a hybrid style that resonates in folk festivals, house concerts, and intimate venues.

In addition to his performance career, Shawn runs a recording studio in Nova Scotia, where he produces podcasts and records music tracks for other artists, using both live instruments and MIDI. He also works for Full Voice Music, contributing his expertise to their projects.

A dedicated music teacher, Shawn has guided many of his students to successful professional careers. He also hosts workshops on mandolin and guitar, sharing his passion and knowledge with musicians of all levels.

A graduate of the music program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Shawn has built a full-time career as a music teacher, composer, and performer. He is the founder and former director of the Southern Ontario Fingerstyle Guitar Association, which thrived for many years under his leadership. Over the years, Shawn has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Peter Finger, Dylan Fowler, Jon Anderson, Kelly Joe Phelps, Big Sugar, The Irish Descendants, and, in his early career, Anthrax.
